1. 'Self Esteem' strategy: Remember how Jim's dad helped him with his job hunt?
Jim was down with 'rejection shock'. Ten straight rejections had belted his self esteem.
'Jim' - his dad said 'How would you feel if I gave you 10 lottery tickets and told you that you have a 99% chance of winning?'
'Great!'
'But, what if you didn't win any of the 10?'
'I'd feel very unlucky. And bad.'
'What if I now told you that the real odds are 76 million to one?'
'I guess it wouldn't affect me much!'
'Well, statistics say you go through 49 No's before you get a Yes in a job hunt. It looks like:
No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No
No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No
No No No No No No No No No Yes'
Jim's father had learnt that our self esteem takes a knock when we 'assume' everyone else is winning. And Jim did feel much better after that.
This week, let's remember the masters of failures - Col Sanders and Edison when we fail and take heart from their eventual success.

This lesson refers, as well, to my previous article about "Addiction to Failure". It is a great lesson to learn ... especially that NO its not always a final answer and it should not be. Keep trying and learn from mistakes. I really like the following videos that I start listening to every day!
